Making cards-the easy way

Okay if you are like me, you probably never ever buy greetingcards but make them yourself! :)
And if you are like me you always make the greetingcards the very same day...right!

I know...it is quite sad but true!

BUT...it can be solved!

If you scrapbook or do some crafts you usually get some supplies over. At least I do.
This is my stash:

I keep mine in folders, at least the paper stash. One for solid colors and one for my pattern paper.
These are the folders that come out whenever my nieces or nephiews come over and demand to do some crafting. (like I am such a push over, wait...I am. Drats!)
Anywho, not that long ago I got a phonecall from my niece asking if she could come over and we ended up at the table doing some crafts.

This is where I got the idea. Why not use my stash of leftovers to create some greetingcards. (lightbulb came on here)

And here is what I did:

a few strips, flowers and a chipboard. A lovely birthday card

similar to above and just a chipboard.

a painted chipboard with crackle paint and a flower.
could be a birthday card, weddingcard, any occasion card

or if you have some beads lying around you could add a string.

Basically just take whatever you have on hand! Nice to know that you have a card lying around whenever you need it. :)

So go raid your stash and get on with it!

Placecards and Napkinringholders

I got a question from my best friend asking if I would help her with some things for her son's Baptism. Of course I said yes...the answer no wasn't even heard of...:)

I did the placecards and napkinring holders for the reception afterwards. The guideline was something boyish (she has 2 girls already)...that was all I got!! So the only thing that would stop me was my own fantasy. Anyway I wanted to stay away from the traditional "baby blue" and go for more "cool".

And here is what I came up with:

simple design and real easy to make

took the shot before I glued the black strip to a circle.
It took me to evenings to do, maybe 3 hours in total.

Fun and simple craft that don't cost that much. I used about 3-5 cardstocks, 1 pattern paper and some glitterglue.

have fun...

what memories are for...

found this clip from the movie "Up" and it is sooo beautiful.

Watch the whole thing and I bet you will smile in the end (maybe shed a tear)

Photos says so many things, don't be afraid to not document your life or your family's.

creative vibe...

Have had a creative vibe going on for the last week or so. And I discovered that I had fun doing it too! :)
Imagine that!

Ended up making some cards to have for later on. My stash of everyday cards are going low and need to fill up with more.

Not sure when will be the next time I get around to do it. My creative vibe got me to re-do my livingroom/studio again...not sure what I got myself into. (of course I do...)
Anyhow, my shelves has come down and I am now greeted with white spots on one wall. Then I might end up painting the room aswell.

Will post photos later on on how it goes...

But here are some inspirations for you all:

All I need for this is to finish a greeting on the bottom and I am done!

super easy and fast! A piece of paper, and letter stamps.

See the blue cardstock in the photos? Well let me tell you this....I only used 1 cardstock to create all those cards. You can get much with little supplies! :)

Happy Fall!

A gift + Card inspiration

The other week my best friend turned 30!! Big Hooray for her! :)
She strongly didn't want any gifts and what kind of friend would I be if I didn't listen to her wishes, a bad one right?!

Heh heh....well...I can't just show up empty handed now can I?!!

NO.....

So I scrambled together THIS:

A gift containing.....30 different items I knew she would love!! :)
Kind of cool to see her face looking through what was inside the cellofane wrapper.

And a sweet card for her aswell! :)

Not going to do a Weekly sketch this week, due to travelling, but the above one is a great inspiration source! :)

Happy Spring!

Stamp giveaway/Stämpeltävling

*Update: The contest/giveaway is now closed**Tävlingen är stängd, återkommer inom kort med vem som vann stämpeln*

Last week I visited a new scrapbookingstore here in my hometown and ended up blowing my budget totally. They had a huge and good selection of everything imaginable.

I ended up getting a few new stamps, not that i don't have plenty but getting one or two more to my collection isn't that bad.

Right?!

Well I got one extra stamp that I want to give to a lucky person.

It is an unmounted stamp and soo totally cute and versatile.

All you have to do is answer the following question in the comment section:

What cardsize is the one you make most?

The contest will end april 12th midnight and I will randomly pick a winner after that.

Good luck!! :)

"på svenska"

En omonterad stämpel från bildmålarna.se delas ut till en lycklig vinnare.
Det enda du behöver göra är att svara på följande fråga i kommentars rutan:

Vilken kortstorlek tillverkar du mest?

Tävlingen håller på till 12:e april midnatt, efter det lottar jag fram vinnaren.

Lycka till!

Sketch nr:6

I am also slowly getting back in groove in Scrapbooking and here is a doublespread layout I did for my 2009 album. (doubt I will get my albums done intime...I dream but it will still be a dream)

As I tend to let my camera go wild while on vacation, I always end up with tons of photos I want to include in my albums. This layout will keep the number of pages down to a minimum but still get plenty of photos in them.

Thinking of starting a group on Flickr where you can showcase  your layouts, what do you think?? Good or bad?? :)

Scrapbooking paper

After my last re-organization in my Scrapbooking stash, and after a lot of giveaways I told myself that I couldn't buy anything new unless it was necessary. (like white/black cardstock and the occasional glue)

Guess what?! I did stick by that, haven't spent anything on scrapbooking for months and months. My stash is getting thinner and thinner, which in my book is great. I horded a lot of pattern paper way back when. Bought them because they are cute and pretty, some did have a purpose but not all of them.

So now after a year or so it is time to purge/hord some... :)

Will show some collections from my two favorite brands:
(and that will most likely find a home in my stash of papers)

First off is Crate Paper and sooo love their papers
take a better look HERE

And then it is BoBunny...oh my my..
Check them out HERE

Do you know any other cute paper collections then please give a shout out in the comment section!

Have fun Crafting!

Sketch nr:5

Last weeks sketch kind of got lost in translation somewhere... :)

But here is a sketch that is adaptable to be either a scrapbookinglayout or a card.
I made mine 6x6" or 15x15 cm.

Have fun

Sketch nr:4

Here is this weeks sketch.
Still 12x12" (30,5x30,5cm)

The proportions aren't exact...too tired to work out the kinks :)
My take on the sketch is below and I apologize now for the sucky photo.
Forgot to shoot it earlier today when the light was up.

If you did find the sketch inspirational, I would love to see what you did from it.

Have fun!

Sketch nr:3

Here is this weeks sketch, again a double spread layout. But you can adapt it after your own liking.

Have fun! :)

Know it is not the best layout according to the theme today, but I did love that vacation! :)

Sketch nr:2

I finished christmas 2009 with this layoutsketch. If you are like me and take gazillion photos around the holidays and don't want to use 10 pages for them all, this sketch will help out a lot.

I keep my style a bit on the minimalist side but hey...this is purely for inspiration, so if you want to add to it...go ahead! :)

The layout is 12x12", not sure about the metric measurments on this one.
And here are my layouts using the sketches:

(sorry for the blurry photos and the horrible background)

A quick layout that will still have some personality to it.

I would love to see what creations you make, why don't you send me and e-mail (mikaelalindman[at]yahoo[dot]com) or if you have a blog give me the link.

Have fun!

Sketch nr: 1

One of the major things I wanted to do this year is to share more projects and Scrapbooking items with you all. So every week from now on I will share a layout sketch and a sample page for some inspiration.

So with no further ado here is Sketch nr: 1

This is a 12x12 layout but can easily be adapted to smaller sizes.

Have fun!
