bedroom makeover part 2

this makeover will be a long one it seems. Both due to the fact it is hard to find the pieces I want and my budget is limited. :)

But I did go on a little shoppingspree a week ago and found these:

A new bedsidelamp which I love, now I just need to get some height to the chrome stool it stands on to give it more "umph".

One of the bedsidetable ideas i had was getting a traytable, but never got around to it. Well I have one but needed to build a new base to get it to the height I wanted....alas....my mojo disappeard. :)
Instead I found these two trunks that are not only nice to look at, they serve as storage aswell. :)
I just moved the other bedsidelamp I had before to this side, am still searching for one more lamp.

And since they had such a good deal on it I bought this floorstand lamp too. :):)
So now all I need to do is get rid of my ceilinglamp and the look is almost complete for the room.

The end is close but then again not.

my summer favorite

the time between these posts are ridiculously long...sorry about that.

Going to try my best to get the posts on here more regularly from now on...:)

I did celebrate my birthday this summer and one of gifts was this one:

a castiron pot from Le Creuset....so love it! Perfect size to.
I have a oval one from before....Picture below:

really like cooking in these, anything from soups, stews...bolognese! :)

The finished Headboard

I added a walnut stain to it and a semi matt finish to it. Turned out better than I thought it would. :)

Ignore the bedding, had to do a Quick one for the shot ;)
Think white a bit fluffy and a touch of color and you get the finished deal.
Now the dilemma is bedsidetables...and the rest of the decor.

In other words...we are long from being done. :)

Headboard DIY

The reason I have been missing: Enjoying some good weather, the beach and familytime and the process of making my own headboard. :)

Remember this inspiration moodboard I did:

Well after I posted this my fingers started to itch a bit, that and my wanting to get it done, I went to get some materials.
It was a fun Project to do, even though it took up most of my livingroom...

Had to do the DIY'ing after work and only for  about 30 min at a time, which made it take longer than it should have done. :)

Halfway through the Project. A tip...if you do have say garage or a area where you don't spend that much time in it would be preferable. But if you don't...the livingroom works great. :)

The finished Headboard before any stain were put on it.
Really love how it turned out. You can easily do it in a few hours, but since I live in a apartmentbuilding I had to keep the noise down a bit. Don't think my neighbours would had loved me if I kept it going at night. The plans I followed (did some changes to the measurements to fit what I had) I found at Ana White's website.

I bought the timber already smooth/sanded and cut to precise length so the final cost for it was a bit more than originally planned. For me it worked out for the best, since I had nowhere to do the cutting, sanding etc.

Next: The finished Headboard in place

Bedroom makeover - Planningstage

I have been wanting to do something to my bedroom for months now. I just put up my headboard I have now for sale to get this makeover up and going. Otherwise I will still be dreaming by december...

Do know how I want it to look like when finished but resources are tight so need to be on a budget here. (not that I have made one yet...but need to keep it on a minimum)

Here is a little moodboard that I put together of things that caught my eye and things that I want:

the headboard is something that I will create by myself (hence putting the one I have up for sale so I can get moving and make the one above), I have found the plans online by a very talented lady. (AnaWhite)
The metal stool I own already and thinking of moving it to the bedroom to use as a sidetable. Pillows and lamps are found at Chilli. I am still debating on having a ceilinglamp or just put a floorstanding one in the corner for those days I need to light the room up.
The White bedsidetable I found at Ikea, and it is reasonable cheap for me to perhaps paint in a turqoise color...
Bedding will be in White (obsessed with bare white bedding), and might switch out the arearug I have now to a white or beige one. (have black at the moment.)

Any ideas or don'ts??

Walldecor dilemma

Yesterday I ended up shopping a new wall Clock for my Collection...however now I am slightly regretting the purchase. And ended up online looking for others this morning.

The problem now is that I fell in love with one that is no longer on the market.
Have found a few other selections, but not sure if I should get one. And if I should get one which one to choose.

Here are a the ones I am (currently) thinking about:

Väggklocka - Blå
website

I have a bluish/turqoise color theme going on around the apartment and liked this one!

Väggklocka - Grön
website
But then I thought I should add some other color...and this one popped out.

Then I found this one here, since it wasn't round like the others.

Then I found these ones (above) and they stood out too... website

Here is the one that I bought:

Not sure it will fit with the others. And it is White...which I new when I bought it! :)
But it is a different shade of White than my wall is...:(

Here is a photo of the wall in progress ignore the mess and what not and just focus on the wall:

Any tips or hints?? The star might get a different color later on...

A very simple tabletop centerpiece

We are all very different when it comes to decorating and such in our home. One thing that I took with me from my mother is always have a runner on my diningtable. Where she has flowers I have most of the time Candles....:)

After doing my floors in the kitchen (you can find the post about that here) I ended up cleaning it from top to bottom...due to every little speck of dust that came out of putting down a laminate wood floor.
Following that I went into my "decor-storage bins" in search for materials for a centerpiece.

A very simple and fast one to do. I got everything several years ago, not sure from where, but you can easily create it yourself.

A little piece of summer and sand inside :)

Vignettes and eye treats

After installing the floor I had to give my kitchen a major cleaning...aswell as the rest of the apartment. Dust from the boards everywhere...I still see it!

While I was in the process of cleaning I figured I would update a few random areas around the place. A few eye features...:)

The corner in my kitchen got a little makeover, this is how it used to look like Click here

I added a few more candlestands to the collection I started with last christmas. The two smaller ones were a steal...bought them at work. The turqoise milk bin I bought at Ikea.

All in alla I am enjoying the both corners alot. Now I just need to finish all the other corners too. :)

Spring = new shoes

Not sure about you, but over here Spring = New Shoes!! :)

Long gone are the heavy winter boots and come light, pretty shoes.
Last year I tossed out a few pairs that have had their share in mileage so to speak and last week I went looking for new ones.

First and foremost I needed a pair of everyday shoes with lots of comfort and here is what I found:

bought here

I did splurge a bit for these, but figure that it would be best in the long haul. See I need a bit of cushioning in the soles, I get blisters quite easily, and these were really comfortable. :)

The other pair I got were sandals...I pretty much tossed mine last fall when I put my summer shoes away.

bought here

Nice cushioning in these aswell and they are a good everyday sandal.

Now I just need to get my hands on a few more...for every other occasion.. ;)

Kitchen floor makeover

When I moved in to this apartment a little over a year ago I had them install new flooring in the hallway. Which turned out great, trust me...anything would have been better than what I had.

A old really ugly looking linoleum flooring!!! It looked worse in the hallway than it did in the kitchen so I did the Entryway/hallway first since that is the first look you get of the place when you come in.

the floor before (taken a year ago)

And this year the kitchen got pretty much the same makeover. I choose to have the same type and color of flooring (woodlaminate) to get a cohesive look to the place.

It turned out pretty good for doing it myself for the first time around :) The above photo is right when I started.

Here is when I was halfway there and were waiting for my mom to arrive with some tools that I didn't have on hand. Bless her I say! :)

All in all we (yes my mom stayed on and helped me finish) did finish the floor that day. All I had left to do was a few touch ups here and there.

And know my eyes are looking to the other imperfections that look a bit dated etc since the floor look soo great in there. Hard to live in a rental and having restrictions...

The journey will continue.... :)

Kitchen essentials

The other day I looked around in my kitchen and it pretty much looked like someone had dropped a bomb in there.

My kitchen table is a dropzone for various objects, magazines, mail etc etc.

My sink was filled with various dishes, since I am too lazy to do them every day.  (live alone so I don't accumulate that much in dirty dishes) :)

One counter was filled with crap after my last "cleaning" atempt from my kitchentable.

So I started to clean and put things away where they are supposed to be, why I don't do this right away I have no clue! I mean it is soo much easier that way. Oh well...why make it easy?! ;)
Anyway, back to the subject, whilst cleaning I found things that are essential to me in there.
It doesn't matter if they are for cooking or cleaning, these items I love and use all the time:

my cookbooks, they do come in handy!
my loyal Kitchen Aid (the best gift ever)
these bendable cuttingboards are awesome (have them in different colors)

muffinpans...I have a few...to say the least :)

A awesome tool! Use mine to scoop cupcake batter in pans and best
part is no mess! :)

my ovendishes, have the one in red. And they are great to look at too.

a great buy I might say so! Use it at least once a week
best knife ever!

These are just a few items I have that are essetial to me, have plenty more! :)
Just ask my helpers who helped me move in february...about half of the boxes ended up being kitchen stuff! ;)

hey....I love to bake and cook...why not splurge once in a while!

Images were found online except for the first two that are mine.

What Kitchen gadget is or are your essential?

Impulsbuy?!

Or not...but I just bought a new sofa and chair!
Went looking yesterday with my sister and boy where there options. It all needed to fit my vintage theme I am going for in my livingroom. And I didn't want to pay to much for it.
Since I was a bit clueless when I got home yesterday, I asked my mom to taggle along today to get her opinion aswell. And it resulted in getting the sofa above (not a curved one like the one showing but a straight one) and the chair below.

Now all I need is a new sofatable, carpet and a leather chair to complete the look ;)
This might take a while!

And I need to sell my old sofa...(which might happen sooner than later)

Will post more later on this week

:)

Some missing pieces

I have been dragging my feet around here on some decordecisions, but Saturday I pulled myself together and put on my home improvment clothes.

(figure of speach..don't really own that kind of clothes)

Anywho, toolbox came out and I hung some pictures and other decor.
The frames needs to be updated, but am proud I got them up.
Bought new flowerpots in the livingroom, (bought here)

Last week I went into town and bought my second big wallclock (the one to the right)
and hung them both up. Just need a third one... (clock bought here)

Put up my paintings aswell, first thing you see after you enter
the frontdoor. (painted by yourstruly)

and finally bought my round rug in the hallway.
It just needs a couple of days to set....
More things to come...just need time and energy to do them.

:)

Spring

So finally it seems that Spring is here! Although with me saying that I probably just jinxed it! :)

Anyway, I have the weekend off and it is sooo nice. Going to putter around the home for a change and maybe make some holes in the walls and such.
And maybe just maybe dream a little of what I want to get...interiorwise.

here is a list of things i am thinking of getting in the future:

a vinyl chalkboard!! Thinking of dressing one of my doors in the hallway
with this! What do you think??

love these storage canisters! And with chalkboard..;)

Would look good in my future design wall! ;)

COOL!!!!! Me like a lot!!

and why not...a inside joke between me and a great friend! :)
So all I need to do is bring in the cash and get started...not that hard, right?! ;)
I will just have to do it a little at a time.
Images are found here, here and here

Enjoy the beautiful weather!
Happy weekend

The "Pad" as it is now

Okay so I promised some photos of the new pad when I got organized and such.
Well...not quite organized yet and it may take me some time, so I figure that I'll just show you "the Pad" as it is right now.

So with no further ado:

My Office corner in the bedroom. Looks very black and grey right now,
will add a splash of color later on.

The frames and artwork is to be hung on the bare walls at some point.
Right know I have no idea on how I want it so I'll just wait with that for a while. :)

Kitchen space with the not so great flooring, hoping it will look better when
they install the new floor in the hallway tomorrow. (probably not)
The cakestand is a new addition to my collection and no....that is not how

I want to display my fruit...they kind of just got put there for now.
The lamp above the table needs to be moved into the center and is going
to be replaced. (a project I will try later on)

Bedroom (the other half of it)
The wall above the headbord needs something...not sure what yet.

The Livingroom all done! the lamp is just temporary until I find a new one.
Saw one that I liked but a bit pricy...
Í want to replace the sofa with a 3-seater and 2 chairs. I really want a leather chair,
think english library style...sort of.

The clock next to the cabinets is going to be hung on the wall
above the tv, just need some more clocks to complete my vision. :)
The little lamp next to the cabinets is in the future going to be put on a side coffeatable.
And maybe be replaced with something bigger!
So there it is, with all the chaos and what not! :)

Hope your weekend was great!
